5-point Harness Car seats for over 40lbs
I have to upgrade my son’s car seats because he is too tall for the Britax Roundabout he is in now. However, finding a 5-point harness seat rated to more than 40lbs/40″ is no small feat. I found a few though:
- Safeguard Child Seat (65lbs/57”):

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CSSRating/SeatDetail.cfm?CSSID=536 - Safeguard Go (60lbs/52”):
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CSSRating/SeatDetail.cfm?CSSID=593 - Safety 1st Apex 65 (65lbs/52”):

Beware the other seats listed in the “Combination” section of NHTSA’s website. The forward/rear combo seats only allow the 5-point harness up to 40lbs. Above that you just use the seat belt, which is less than a perfect solution.
