After using SQL Server forever, I’m finally on a project that uses Oracle. This is just a dumping ground for various syntax. Note this is for 9i (yes, it’s a bit behind the current release). Switch schemas: ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = SchemaName Format dates (including convert string to date): TO_DATE(<string>, ‘<format>’) to_date(’1998/05/31:12:00:00AM’, ‘yyyy/mm/dd:hh:mi:ssam’)); Format [...]
Every app that has not been updated since the 2.0.1 update was released stopped working over the last few days. Luckily, uninstalling and reinstalling each app fixed the problem, but why did it happen?
My new Contour Hardskin case showed up yesterday, and so far it’s great. It adds maybe 30% to the bulk of the phone, seems to protect the sides and back very well, and is not “sticky” like the silicon cases. It also makes the volume buttons easier to use, since it covers them with a [...]
I picked up the Zagg InvisibleShield for the iPhone 3G yesterday. It’s a weird kit, but it adheres the best of any screen protector I’ve used – virtually no bubbles, and no peeling corners. I do have a speck of dirt caught under it, which I’m not happy about. It’s also somewhat tacky to the [...]
Last night my laptop crashed for good, and I had to reload Vista. The culprit was BitLocker, which I had previously enabled after installing the OS. At the time, I couldn’t access the BitLocker Drive Preparation tool through our enterprise account, so I did it manually with Partition Magic. However, at least once a day [...]
The enshrinement for such a classy and dominant player is long overdue. Congrats!
So, 2.0.1 is out. Contact loading is zippier and SMS load faster. And it cooked my Exchange inbox. I kept getting a “Cannot connect to mail server” error. This was strange, though, because Calendar and Contacts synced fine. I tried disabling and enabling the Mail account, but no dice. Finally, I fixed it by doing [...]
I can’t believe how far Sage has come since v4. With SageMC on top, this does pretty much everything I want, with no hacking and a reasonable amount of tweaking. Following Andy’s lead, I just upgraded my license from Sage 4 to 6 and ordered an extender.
It appears 7.7.1 has fixed a bug where apps downloaded to the phone were not being backed up properly. Now my sync time is painfully slow, just like everyone else! I’ll be turning off app syncing now… Edit: Scratch that – it was just the first sync that took forever.
