Manipulating PDF files

Adobe PDF Reader is pretty useless when it comes to manipulating PDF files.  I found a few free tools that let you create, markup, and extract PDF files.

  • PrimoPDF – creates PDF print driver, which lets you create a PDF from any application
  • PDF XChange Viewer – allows you to markup a PDF, including text and simple drawings, which are saved to the PDF
  • GUIPDFTK+ – extract pages from a PDF file (hint: click the “Burst” button)

I have been using the first two tools for over a year.  The last tool I found this week, and it worked great.
