I was researching Blu-Ray players, when it occurred to me it would be much easier to just get a BD drive for the PC, rip the disc to the SageTV server, and play it back from there.  However, Sage does not appear to support this natively yet, either in the client or the extender. One [...]

I have posted an updated method.  I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU USE IT INSTEAD!  I leave the below for posterity…   NOTE: mencoder is not cutting commercials properly on my system.  Everything else is working fine.  I’ll post an update when I get it working. Here is how I’m converting SageTV recordings to iPhone-compatible (and Touch/iPod-compatible) [...]

I finally got around to rebuilding my HTPC (does anyone call them that anymore?) yesterday, so now I need to set my sights on getting file conversions working again.  I’m pretty set on using DTb for file monitoring and processing control.  For transcoding, I was going to use VLC (or possibly Handbrake), but I might [...]

Edit: Here is another. Just stumbled across this batch metadata importer tool. I need to give it a try, as I’ve got a few hundred TV shows and movies (pretty much all kids’ stuff) recorded and converted that is floating around in Sage.

Update: You have to disable the service, not stop it.  And, you have to also disable the “Windows Media Center Scheduler” service. ehrec.exe ties up the tuners, so you can’t run an alternate media center while running VMC (or MCE).  Just stop disable the “Windows Media Center Receiver” service, and you should be good to [...]

Andy has made the switch, and has already started cranking out enhancements.  This one allows you to use the green button on the MCE/VMC remotes to start Sage instead of MCE/VMC.
